Good day to you Gooners and what a glorious one it is too. Someone must of reminded England that it actually summer right now as the sun is a blazing, which is nice.
So what do I have for you today? Well not a great deal to be honest as not a lot has happened, someone would of thought it was pre-season or something. We’re still waiting for Arsene Wenger to dust down and break out the cheque book out for someone with experience. A couple players surprisingly reckon Le Gaffer doesn’t need to splash the cash namely Czech mate Tomas Ro-sicky and Brazilian Denilson. Ro-sicky reckons our very own Abou Diaby is the man to partner The Cesc in the middle of the park and Denilson reckons he’s the man with the big cojones to do the job. Personally I believe that those two players can do the job, but not right now, but in time.
If Wenger doesn’t go and buy someone (which he really needs to) it would mean sitting through another ‘transitional’ period and I’m not sure many Gooner’s would want to put up with that. Diaby does have the touch of the Vieira’s about him and Denilson is a talent but those two haven’t exactly got a phobia of the treatment room have they? Next season we have to hit the ground running, we wont have time to play around with the midfield and re-jig here or there. Also my fear is if we don’t get someone with the experience The Arsenal deserve, The Cesc could well ask himself when is he going to win some silverware with this team. With Fabregas winning Euro2008 with Spain, he has got a taste for it now. Fabregas deserves a quality partner, Arsenal deserve a quality midfield and I don’t think Wenger can afford not to go and splash the cash. I know quite a few people are saying we don’t need a ‘big name’ I’d agree with that to some degree. No one knew too much about Bacari Sagna or Eduardo before they came to London’s finest and both were blinding in their debut season before injury curtailed them both. However that would be a huge gamble if Wenger doesn’t buy anyone who isn’t proven. Not a ‘big name’ but proven and proven in the Premier League. Someone who wont take time to settle in, get up to speed and that malarkey. We need someone who is ready, someone who is proven. Someone when he is named everyone is like ‘Holy shit I fancy our chances now!’ I wont get excited if we get hold of this Amaury Bischoff fella as he’s played less games than Shaun Wright-Phillips has started for CSKA Chelsea. He might be good but frigging hell we’re crying out for someone who can take the bull by the horns and hit the ground running so that The Cesc can do what he’s best at. Obviously there’s loads of names been banded around but only a select few will give us the ‘wow’ factor, who might not be a big name but ‘proven’ and the longer it takes Wenger to identify the player and splash the cash the more Gooner’s are getting nervous.
This is going to be huge season not only The Arsenal but for Le Gaffer. Wenger hasn’t won a trophy now since we completely outplayed Manchester USA in the 0-0 F.A. Cup Final in 2005 and stole the game on penalties and another season trophyless will get a few fans twitching.

Alright guys, getting worried now about the whole midfielder milarky. The names being thrown about (with the exception of Barry) aren’t exactly reassuring. What’s also worrying is that the longer it takes to sign someone, the less time they’ll have to integrate with the team before the season starts. Here’s hoping there’s some news this week.
On another note, the rumours of big Phil heading north with Shay Given coming to us is only good news imo. We get a quality keeper, get rid of a dodgy defender & will surely mean Arsene will have to buy another centre half – in theory anyway. Realistically though, there’s probably a better chance of Real or Barca tapping up Eboue then us buying another central defender!!!
I really think Diaby can fill the midfield gap. Hes been here a while now and knows the pace of the premiership and what is needed etc. He definatelty has the talent and to be honest I cannot think of many more talented midfielders in the premiership than Diaby. Cesc, Gerrard for sure and then maybe Ballack and Scholes. Other than that though one struggles to name many. The guy is big, strong, good in the air, fast, can score goals, great at dribbling, has amazing vision and is very confident on the ball and he also has the experience now; therefore he has everything. All that is needed is for him to be put in the 1st team and not be taken out and we will see that he is one of the best in the world. I say by the end of the season (subjuect to him playing and not getting injured) he will be top 5 central midfielders in the premiership and we’ll have to put up with the same old crap from Madrid and Barca etc with regard to where he is playing next year

I actually stopped short of naming Barry – I don’t want to be disappointed which I got a gut feeling we all will be when Wenger names Francois Noname from some French 4th division team his ‘quality’ signing.
WE NEED A CENTRE BACK!! But according to Wenger we don’t, he can be too stubborn sometimes. I keep thinking Senderos will come good but I’m not sure. He’s actually been with us now for 6 years and his best season was three years ago and he’s not got any better. He done ‘alright’ last season but he doesn’t fill you with confidence. As for the Shay Given linkage I have no idea why that one still keeps popping up. I would love him to come to us but just dont see it happening.
There’s only so many times you can click into Arsenal.com a day, before you realise that, for a change, we have signed nobody today again! At this stage I’m begining to believe the shite on NewsNow, & that’s never good! We will sign someone, & hopefully it will be a Sol Campbellesque signing (ie a good signing that I didn’t see coming by a long shot!) but if rumours are to be believed Francois Noname is on his way & he’s the next Patrick Vieira….
When you see that Caught Offside holding the top positions in last 24 hours top stories on NewsNow it makes me want to puke. I’d like to think that Gooner’s are an intelligent bunch but when I see Caught Offiside up there you just know everyone is being a bit of a news junkie.
Like you Rae I’m hoping Wenger pulls one out the bag – but I’m not sure if he will get the player all Gooner’s want – like I said this is a big season coming up – because the natives will be getting restless.

You know the media will try and read more into – nothing new there. Cesc is Spanish so IMO I believe one day he’ll play in the country of his birth, who wouldn’t. But even if said I’m going to stay here for ten years and then go to Spain the media would put their own spin it and have an ‘exclusive’ saying something along the lines of ‘Cesc in quit shock’. Their fuckers.
