All quiet on the transfer front…?

Well unless you like rumours of course which everyone seems to be eating up in large proportions at the moment or just pushing it around the plate. Do you believe Emmanuel Adebayor will do the off? Well Wenger has already said that Ade isn’t for sale for money nor gold to AC Milan and with that ‘allegedly’ Barcelona put in a bid of £24m for The Togonator, what is it with this Basque club? They can’t take a hint can they, bloody muppet’s. Even though the big fella hit 30 goals last season, you would bite off the Catalan clubs hands for that and go out and snap up Arsenal loving David Villa who’s price tag will go through the roof by the time Euro2008 is over. Also with that you would keep The Cesc happy as he’s already said he would love his mate to be sporting the red and white of London’s finest. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t want the big fella to do one but £24m for a player we bought only a couple of years ago for £7.5m is not a bad profit I think you’ll find. What I find strange is that the big clubs have been told Ade isn’t for sale but David Villa can leave Valencia for a cut price fee and AC Milan and Barca still want The Togonator. Well we’ll see soon enough whether cash or a pot of gold will entice Le Gaffer to sell the big fella.

What with every man and his dog being linked to The Arsenal one player who will be sporting the red and white of God’s own team is Samir Nasri who done a bit of a cameo appearance for a Thierry Henry lead Les Bleus who went home after losing to Italy in last nights match up. That will be one under the belt and a couple more to come I fancy, especially a defender. I’m not to sure if I believe the comments coming from some quarters that Wenger has said he isn’t looking for a defender. FFS, we know our defence is shit, so I’m sure Wenger can see it – surely he can’t claim not to see anything all the time. If The Arsenal defence had a job as a dog walking business it would go bust within a couple of weeks – as they cannot hold onto leads. There is still talk of The Arsenal snapping up Valencia defender Raúl Albiol, we’ll see what happens there soon enough I suppose. However Arsenal leg-end Kolo Touré has already stated he wants to be a Gunner for life, which in the light of players not committing is a great call and will make the fans love the big man even more.

That’s about it my computer is playing up big style and it is painful typing this as my computer needs to think about showing a letter for about 10 seconds before putting the bugger in there. All that is left to say is the winner of the ‘Let’s talk about Cesc baby’ t-shirt will be announced next week when there will be another t-shirt competition to look forward to as well, oh you lucky people!

You are mental to consider swapping Adebayor for Villa. Villa is a great international but does he have the physical attributes to cut it in the premiership? Look at the players who are doing well – Tevez, Ronaldo, Drogba,Kenwyne Jones, Adebayor, Rooney, Torres – none of whom would you want to fight over the last donut in a sugar famine. But look at the players who have promised/promise a lot but have so far, failed to actually deliver (often through no fault of their own) – Saha, RVP, Eduardo, Johnson, SWP, Owen, etc. Which group do you think David Villa sits in most comfortably?

Timao – I agree with you about not swapping aded for Villa! I rate Ade very highly! I feel your right with Villa not having the build to withstand the premierleague.

But saying RVP cant deliver in the premierleage is retarded!! He scores loads of goals for the time he is on the pitch…now getting injured is not his fault just unlucky, but that doesnt mean he doesnt have what it takes to be a great player in the premierleage…he is already a great player in the premierleague. And if he can stay fit he will score 20+ goals in the premierleague without question!

Timao, are you alright up there in the clouds? Firstly, Kenwyne Jones isn’t “doing well” really, nor is Rooney for a Centre Forward who should be scoring bucketfuls. Torres is on fire and is pretty much identical to Villa in many respects, and everyone said Torres (like you’re saying Villa) would be rubbish in his first year because he couldn’t cope with the physicality of the Premiership so you’re probably right there…Out of those you say have “failed to actually deliver” I’d say that Johnson (Andy?) has (and if he hasn’t its not because of any deficient “physical attributes”) and Eduardo absolutely did (until he was assaulted, for which you can hardly blame his “physical attributes”). Owen played well last season and SWP can’t get games. Saha and RVP are injury prone, but definitely do have the strength needed for the Premiership; witness RVP when he is fit and Saha playing very well at Fulham. All in all a poor response to a decent article which is only conjecturing about losing Adebayor. David Villa is quality, and if we can make money from getting him and losing Adebayor, who could quite feasibly return to his donkey like ways next season, then it cant be a completely crazy idea.

timao u dont know wat ur saying.if ade goin guarantees villa comin.men am all ready bring him in

  5. Well fella’s you know my thoughts on this. IF we can get £24m for Adebayor then I would grab that and buy Villa. I can’t understand how Villa is rated in the £17m bracket and scores for fun and Ade is £24m. No disrespect to Ade but £24m – you sure. He has ONE good season, granted it was his first as our No.1 choice striker but to get £16.5m profit in two years is a right sweetner. Admittedly I really don’t see it happening but IF and its a big big if as Ade has said he is happy, it’s his agent who keeps speaking about ‘his client is happy BUT… blah blah blah..) but IF Ade says he wants to go – lets cash in and get Villa – who you will score!

But Timao putting RvP in that list is a bit misguided he hasn’t scored ‘many’ as he’s been injured a shitload. If he could keep fit he would be banging in 20+ goals a season he’s played three games for Holland in Euro 2008 and scored two already – now that isn’t a bad return IMO.

    lol what?

Eduardo has his leg broken by a sick challenge. The only thing which ended an excellent year for him where he scored more than 10 goals with very few appearances. Owen is an unusually injury prone player, so? Those exist, likewise with RvP. As far as I’m aware Rooney has a much worse injury record than Villa and also scores much fewer goals. Make of that what you will. And I think you’re creditting some of those players unfairly. None of those players live up to their physique besides perhaps Tevez. All of the rest have a rather laughable tendancy to fall over and cry in fake pain when they get touched. Ade not that often, but he’s done it embarrassingly a few times.

And I seriously doubt not being that muscular has anything to do with RvP’s problems. And if you removed his injury problems we’re looking at one of the best strikers in the world. I think you’ve got than totally wrong I’m afraid.

  7. Hmm broken leg victim in players who didn’t deliver is a bit harsh Timao – I;m sure Fast Eddie didn’t ask for that. Also from where I was sitting/standing/jumping up and down – Eduardo was starting to look good. Could you imagine him in a full season?

Would have to agree with timao to be honest, Torres is NOTHING like Villa bar the fact they are both spanish! Torres is 6″1, Villa is 5″9 huge difference, yet Villa is a significantly better finisher much closer to our own Eduardo than to Torres. Torres is overated as a finisher, slightly better than Adebayor but not by much, both played as lone strikers this season, Ade wasted more but also created more for himself than torres. Personally though I wouldn’t trade Ade for anyone, Ade offers so much in all round play as well as being completely unplayable when he is on form. Villa could work at arsenal but I would want to see him alongside Ade not to replace him, if RVP were to leave I think Villa would be the man for arsenal.

Smaller strikers can definately make it in the premiership without needing to be bulky like Rooney and Tevez, relying more on their finishing skills ala Eduardo. While RVP will not be that striker not due to his height (6″1) but because he plays much more withdrawn second striker role relying on tricks and amazing technique to get into goalscoring posistions, rather than leading the line like an Ade or Torres.
