Nasri signed up, Hleb still here, Defender to Juve?

May 21, 2008

Good day to you Gooners, hang on to your hats as today the rumour mill is going through the roof. Hot on the ‘transfer-o-metre’ and making it break and crack like some old gadget in a 1960’s James Bond film is that we have signed French sensation Samir Nasri. The well respected French newspaper L’Equipe reckon Nasri has signed up already. A couple of sites reckon he’ll be signed up tomorrow after completing a medical and signing personal terms. This signing looks like it could be a goer as even fans on Olympic Marseille’s fans forum are busy saying their goodbyes to the star player. If your French is up to scratch you could do worst than to see some of the messages.

Speaking of goers, Alex Hleb is still at The Arsenal but for how long? His agent has been a bit quiet this week and there’s been no talk from Alex of how life in London is too hectic and he wants to return to the farm. Well the Belarussian will be perplexed to learn that the very rural Real Madrid are chasing after him. Will he swap the heady, busy streets of London for the countryside of Madrid? Does young Alex know where Madrid is? he probably thinks its some fishing village seeing that no one told him about London.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep if Hleb were to leave, if he’s making all these noises about going we should just take the money and run. I think £20m should do the trick and with that dirty cash we could go out and buy another creative player, Hatem Ben Afra, Diego anyone? Although it has to be said if we do get Samir Nasri the clever money is on Ben Afra going to Olympic Marseille to replace Nasri, so bang goes that signing.

The other big rumour doing the rounds is apparently Juventus are sniffing around Phillippe Senderos. Now wasn’t this the same story doing the rounds about two or three years ago? This time out unless it was a copy and paste by some lazy-arsed journo Juventus are willing to splash out £5m on the much maligned defender. I say £5m plus you have to take Emmanuel Eboué and you got yourself a deal, job done.

And lastly you have to have a laugh at Mathieu Flamoney who reckons that his move to AC Milan wasn’t money motivated. Strange that, it reminds me a bit of the Shakespeare play Othello, with the infamous ‘The lady doth protest too much, methinks.’ Why is Flamini constantly banging on about not doing it for the money even when he’s being asked ‘what’s your favourite band?’ Well only Flamoney can answer that question I guess folks.

Win a ‘Cesc’ T-shirt competition: OK folks to keep the boredom at bay and keep the ball rolling (excuse the pun) Allgoonerdup is running another win a t-shirt contest. And due to the avalanche of entries in the ‘Let’s talk about Cesc Baby!’ t-shirt entries I am putting that t-shirt back in the shop window. So in order to win this bit of clobber simply tell us, how old was Cesc Fabregas when he made his Arsenal debut?
