As all you good people know Arsène Wenger has promised signings in the next two to three weeks and has said he needs a defender and a creative midfielder, no surprise there. I think the only other thing which would make many a Gooner happy is if Wenger said he was going to off Emmanuel Eboué, oh well we can dream. There was plenty of talk on various sites yesterday linking us with Stuttgart striker Mario Gomez. Now it’s a bit of a toss up whether we need a new striker as scoring goals wasn’t a problem last season. Even Gomez’s wikipedia entry said The Arsenal had signed him. However it’s been removed, but depending what time of day you go on there it might of reappeared. Until any transfer is confirmed on The Arsenal official site I wouldn’t believe we have signed anyone folks, I know it sounds a bit boring but who you going to believe? A wikipedia entry? The Sun online? FansFC? ClubCall? I think you get my drift.
However with the news that Crozilian hitman Eduardo wont be back in January at the earliest it makes sense to get another striker in. But given Mario Gomez’s physical traits, big strong, bit of a target man it would be a major surprise if Wenger went for him as we have those traits in abundance what with Bendtner and Adebayor. However given that Eduardo is out until half way through next season, Robin van Persie always being injured and not playing 90 minutes for over 15 months for The Arsenal (I know I was shocked when I found that out too!) a striker wouldn’t be a bad shout. We’ll see. I’m not sure if David Villa is still doing his ‘Come and get me’ plea but I reckon we should snap him up. Saying that Ryan Babel was saying all summer how much he wanted to join The Arsenal (he would of been a great addition too) and Wenger didn’t go for him. How different this season if Babel was on our side this season. All I know is that whoever Wenger is after it will be probably someone no one would of even thought about, remember Eduardo last season when everyone had us linked to Obafemi Martins (and again this year for some reason), and Nicklas Anelka? So Ronaldinho anyone?
Once again many a site is playing a ‘Guess Who’ when it comes to defenders and once more Valencia defender Raul Albiol is being linked to us. This brute could be what is needed, he’s big, strong, the size of an American camping truck and a Spanish international. We’ll soon see if that rumour has any legs.
Jens Lehmann: Apparently Jens Lehmann isn’t set to retire but is out to hound and take his mental self back to the Bundesliga with Stuttgart being a likely destination. Whatever the big fella decides to do, I wish him luck, oh and all those German strikers

jus read the 1st para and stopped reading.
what annoyed me is the “we want to see eboue leave blah blah blah”
are squad is so understrength at the moment and you want us to ofload players.
u know how much Arsenal will recieve for him, not much…and then when we wanna buy a right back we either get a high price to pay or other big european clubs increase the price with a bidding war.
but he is a good RB who has been playing as an attacker for the 1st time since he was a kid ( I reckon) and he wasnt that bad. ok the play acting is abit embarssing but like any human being not just footballers he will become aware of how bad it looks on him and he will cut it out (Ronaldo).
but the main thing is that if we keep losing players we have to replace them, which costs money. a lot more than keeping one.
he should go back to being right back cos he can be excellent there (his champions league season showed so much promise) and he should be used sparingly at right wing when we are holding on to a lead (ie bring him on as a defending right wing when we score in the 83rd minute at anfield… then either he will dive, foul, get a yellow… whatever at the centre on the park and no where near our penalty area. and if they do get past him then they can face sagna.
also witch hunts against our players dont go unseen buy other players, and can influence discions on wheter to stay with us or not…(hleb “the pleb” as you used to call him is probably weighing up right now if he want to go traveling or stay so we can keep moaning at him. eboue is a popular member of the squad ! (FACT)
KEEP IT REAL ! KEEP OUR PLAYERS ! LETS HAVE A SQUAD THATS TO BIG !
(wenger is too smart to let him go tho !)
we need d.villa!!!…he dam good…
For the record Shivi C – I have never called Hleb ‘the pleb’ – I wouldn’t diss an Arsenal player like that, besides that is such a shit name anyway, reckon you must of read it on another site somewhere.
And if you want to keep Eboué in the team strictly to make the numbers up, you’re mental. Also if you’re basing keeping Eboué on board because he is popular in the squad again you are mental. Just because someone is popular off pitch is no reason to keep someone or am I missing something?
Eboué is an embarrassment to the club badge, he isn’t ‘Arsenal’ – if he cut out the histrionics Gooners would get behind him – simple. Hard graft will always catch the eye of supporters. But he is a waste on the right wing. I can’t believe that Wenger has played him there all season. Our squad must be small!
Arsenal.com : wenger saying eboue critics are wrong.
eboue can be embarassing but he is a good player and he can change his play acting easy enough and wenger will make sure of it.
why can we have him as a squad player…. or have 2 quality right backs fighting for a one position?
you make out u want a prefect starting 11 and a crap rest of squad.
why cant we have 2 great right backs (nevielle and his back up brown) (a.cole and w.bridge)
if sagna gets injured u think we should buy another RB or start moving toure?
fools the lot of you…open ur eyes, we dont have much money, big stadium debt and u want us to oflaod players.
I am sure u never call hleb a pleb but it was his nickname a few seasons ago and to think ur not the jump on a bandwagon sort is laughable.
next year eboue will have a blinder and barca will make a firm offer etc etc…
and I bet u would be cursing him if he chose to leave and saying that u never wanted him out in the first place.
and I’ll tell you whats not arsenal, getting on the backs of our players when they are having a shit time… we r not spoilt like chelsea who can boo grant, but with supporters like u its becoming like that
Shivi – so Wenger thinks Eboué’s critics are wrong, so what? That’s his opinion. I dont share it. Eboué is an embarrassment to the club. He’s got talent, I’m not saying that he hasn’t but he lets himself down by his theatrics. He’s a decent enough back up for right back – but that’s it. What has he contributed to Arsenal attack wise this season? No goals no assists? Is that what you want from a winger? Remember we also have Justin Hoyte who can play at right back so that’s another person waiting in the wings should Sagna be injured or needing a rest. Hoyte might not be the best full back going forward but he wouldn’t be any different to Eboué who doesn’t offer us anything in that department.
I can’t see how you come to the conclusion I want a perfect starting 11 and the back up to be made of crap – I want one player out – Eboué as he doesn’t offer us anything going forward. I don’t mind him playing RB but that’s it.
Once again I’m not sure what Arsenal fans were calling a player derogatory names but I was one of the fans who thought Hleb would come good. But there you go..
As for Eboué deciding to leave, I would welcome it I wouldn’t be gutted at all, apparently he reckons some of the big clubs have been sniffing, well let them firm it up with a bid. Also not sure if you’re blinded by Eboué’s smile and believe Wenger can change him. Remember in the Champions League final when he dived for us to get the free-kick Sol headed home from? Well if you recall Wenger said he didn’t want his players to do that and publicly (which isn’t Wenger’s style) had a go at Eboué – well not much change there really is there?
